Temperatures will be warming above average and rain is not expected this weekend across the Carolinas.
The frigid area of high pressure has moved to the east, which is allowing warmer air from the south to move northward. You will notice the warming temperatures from Friday to Sunday ahead of our next frontal system on Monday.
The GFS computer model shows temperatures in the 20s Friday morning, but Saturday and Sunday morning will be noticeably warmer across the Carolinas. Temperatures by Sunday are expected to be 5-15 degrees above average for this time of year. Afternoon high temperatures are expected to reach the 60s across much of the piedmont of NC Sunday.
If you have any outdoor plans this weekend, the good news is not only the warmer than average temperatures. With high pressure in control, expect dry conditions for both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday will feature more clouds than Saturday; however, I am not expecting any precipitation.
If you enjoy warmer weather, then you will like the forecast for early next week. I am expecting above average temperatures for the first week of February.
