High pressure will remain in control this week and I expect the ridge to strengthen this weekend, allowing for a hot Memorial Day weekend.
This past weekend feature temperatures 5-10 degrees above average. Many areas reached the mid to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. This pattern is expected to continue through the next seven days as high pressure remains overhead.
The graphic below is the 7 day temperature anomaly. Tuesday and Wednesday may feature slightly closer to average temperatures; however, temperatures are expected to surge this weekend. Piedmont areas in NC and SC could approach the mid to upper 90s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
With high pressure remaining in control, rain chances are expected to remain low. A few showers and storms are possible Monday and Thursday with a few weak disturbances; however, most areas are not expected to see much rain this upcoming week.
With the general lack of showers and storm, total rain over the next seven days is expected to be light. Many areas will more than likely see little to no rain through Sunday. With very warm temperature, the ground will continue to dry out.
