Showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight across the Carolinas with the chance of severe thunderstorms possible on Wednesday.
The first round of showers is possible during the morning hours Wednesday, especially across the mountains, foothills, and western piedmont of NC. The first round is not expected to be as widespread as the second round.
The second round is expected to enter the mountains during the afternoon hours. This round of storms is expected to move eastward into the foothills and piedmont during the afternoon and evening hours.
This line of thunderstorms may be severe, producing damaging winds and large hail. Frequent lightning will also be possible as the front passes. The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the Carolinas under a marginal risk of severe weather Wednesday.
The showers and storms should weaken during the overnight hours and most areas should be dry Thursday morning.
